Dating back to his time as a 17-year-old Marks Group intern, John has spent nearly 25 years earning the trust of the families he advises. His contributions to our firm’s strategic direction helped Marks Group be named one of the 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the Twin Cities by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in 2016. John also sits on our Marks Group Investment Committee, where his business and market insight help shape our economic perspectives and market outlook.
John has a big heart and leads our company’s charitable and community efforts. He serves on the board of directors at St. David’s Center for Child and Family Development. He has coordinated fundraising efforts on behalf of Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, where he was a patient as a child. He also coaches within the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association.
In 2013, John was honored by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in its “40 under 40” list, an annual celebration of the Twin Cities’ emerging business and civic leaders under the age of 40 who have achieved significance in their careers, both professionally and through community involvement. John has also provided market commentary for Fox 9 News, KARE 11 and been published in the Star Tribune.
A lifelong Minnesotan, John enjoys spending fall mornings in a duck blind. He lives in Deephaven with his wife Katie and their three children, Frank, Jane and Catherine.
